Quite frankly, I think it is bad business for them to have dropped support for pre-M1 iMacs. I hope that the developer will reconsider, and will make their app available for pre-M1 chip iMacs. While I have version 2.3.4 on my iPhone, I am disappointed that I cannot run the most recent version of the server on my iMac. In the resulting window, make sure the name ends with. Right click on it and select 7-Zip > Add to archive. Now, you need to pack this new folder into an archive. Next, drag the Kodi.app folder to your new folder. There is no reason why it should not be able to run version 2.3.4 of Air Video Server HD for Mac. Create a new folder here and name it something simple like Kodi New. It currently runs Big Sur 11.2.3 with ease. For the record, my computer is an iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2019) with a 3.6 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9 processor, and 32 GB of memory. So I wrote to the developer a second time and asked them why they had dropped support for pre-M1 chip iMacs?. Then I noticed this in the info section: "Requires macOS 11 or later and a Mac with Apple M1 chip." Of course, I wanted to download it, in the hope that the newer version would allow me to use. Well, today I revisited their app in the App Store, and I saw that the server had been updated to version 2.3.4 - I am currently on 2.3.0-beta1u1 - about a year ago. If so, I don't know what that is, because they never responded to me. Either that, or there is something I need to do to make the iOS app aware of. Today, two years later, I have written to them again, asking them the same question, being as they apparently still have not added.

At any rate, back then, in October of 2019, I wrote to the developer at and I asked them why their app does not seem to support. When the download has finished, open the DMG file and drag the Kodi app to your Applications folder. Kodi is available as a native application for Android, Linux, Mac OS X, iOS and Windows operating systems, running on most common processor architectures. I have been using the app - iMac server and iOS client app - since at least October of 2019, and possibly before that. Well, after all this time, I have to register some disappointment with Air Video Server HD. An all-new look and feel, icon and playback UI designed from the ground up, along with new features such as minimized playback, a new grid mode & improved landscape support.

Reading about Kodi experience on M1 appears to be limited but I see posts about it working on Windows 10 ARM in Parallels on the M1. Also to note, at this point, I have yet to try any other addons or video playback. This subreddit does not support discussion or links pertaining to gray area or illegal add-ons (such as genesis or icefilms) for Kodi made by 3rd party developers. I see the video controls and the Kodi themes background with a trailing cursor over the top whenever I attempt to start a stream.
