Zippo 28301 One World One Game Football Black Matte Lighter. ![]() As most of you all ready know, Zippo lighters are great. They are reliable, have a rich history, and can last a lifetime. But the biggest drawback is how quickly the fuel evaporates, leading to the all too frequent refills. I read that one way to slow down evaporation is to coat the insert with petroleum jelly. I personally haven't tried this, but I came up with another idea based on the same basic concept. Hello, I currently run a Webbrowsergame called 2 Moons which is pretty much a clone of the commerical Ogame. The game is about intergalactical conquership; you can colonize planets, you research new technologies, start expiditions into the dark space and build massive spaceship fleets to crush your enemies. 2moons ogame clone. I wrapped the insert with one band of clear tape. Doing so has given the insert a tight seal, and therefore has greatly slowed the fuel evaporation escaping from the bottom of the insert. There is still some evaporation through the wick, but not nearly as much as before. Anyone willing to spend five minutes applying the tape can solve one of the greatest drawbacks of these wonderful Zippo lighters. Give it a try! Huntertrw- Yes, the tape will come off after a few refuels and will have to be reapplied. The naptha fumes do seem to deterorate the tape after a little while. It's not too messy to reapply, though. I simply remove the old tape, wipe off any leftover adhesive, and then apply a new strip. Also, when applying the clear tape, I only do one layer- not overlapping at all. If I overlap it, the seal is too tight and the tape comes after removing the insert just one time. I haven't tried the petroleum jelly method, but may do so as a comparison to the tape method. I'm not sure how messy it will be, though. Guys: I smoked nails for over 35 years and always carried a Zippo. I learned early on to use Vaseline on the insert and, Andy, just the lightest skim of that product works just fine: no mess and no fuss. Your warrior clothing will not suffer. But, here's a creepy afterthought. I lived in Argentina during the late 70's and early 80's. I purchased lighter fluid at the tobacco kiosks packaged in glass ampules reminiscent of the morphine ampules Robert Shaw and Nick Nolte discovered in the Jacqueline Bisset bikini film, 'The Deep.' I always hated snapping the tops of those glass vials because I usually cut myself. I collect Zippos and Ronson lighters. I have tried all of the methods of lessening to evaporation of the lighter fluid. Some methods worked a little better than others; But after a while I gave up on that and just found a cheaper source of fuel for my lighters. I found that White Gas or Camping fuel. Works great in flint lighters. I have not purchased a can of Zippo or Ronson fuel for a long while. Since discovering this. In the beginning of camping season I can usually find quarts of this on sale for under five dollars. This photo is for Javan, Asking about my lighters. 1000 tests y juegos de inteligencia pdf. These are the lighters I use the most. I inherited the Nimrod lighter from my father so I only use that one in the house while smoking. I am too afraid of losing it. For those of you that have had cracked ribs, are the symptoms similiar? I guess outside of pain medication, there's probably not much you can do, huh? If the pain continues like this or gets worse I'll head to the doctor for x-rays. The small silver Zippo I use when I have to wear dress slacks it rides in the pocket easier. The old 1940's style brass Zippo I use the most. I love the smooth edges it rides in the pocket very comfortably. I think I use the chrome Ronson second most. The black lighter is so old that the silkscreened art is wearing thin I think I bought that one about 15 years ago. The Oompaul pipe was a recent estate sale find that I am in the process of refurbishing. In my storage unit I have several more zippos and a couple more old Ronsons. ![]() Steve Jennings' Zippo th Assault Helicopter Company DOLPHINS & SHARKS Steve Jennings' Bullet-Stopping Zippo E-mail: Dolphin Helicopter Crewchief 1970 - 1971 (All photos property of Steve Jennings) NOTE: Click on the photos below to see enlargements of each. I arrived in Vietnam early in September 1970 and was in the 174th by the end of the month. My one ambition was to start flying as soon as possible. It only took about a week and I became a door gunner with the 2nd Flight Platoon. When the below event happened, I had only been flying about three weeks and had never been shot at. In fact I hadn't even seen any enemy activity yet. The only shooting I had done was in the occasional 'free fire zone' where we wasted a lot of 7.62 rounds killing grass and trees and making splashes in creeks. I thought at the time, 'What a great war, all the bad guys have already be wasted.' My thoughts were soon to be changed. We dropped into the MAC-V pad at Quang Ngai one day and picked up some Colonel who wanted us to take him on a recon run a few kilometers due west of the airstrip at Quang Ngai.
